Interview with C.D. Britt

Today I am very excited to share a special post with everyone. I was lucky to be able to interview C.D. Britt in the Reaper of Chaos blogtour hosted by Xpresso Tours. In just 10 questions, you will get to know this author a little better and make sure to read all the way to the end to enter the give-away in which you can win an amazon giftcard!

Welcome C.D. Britt. For those who don’t know you, can you tell some basic things about yourself?
Hmm… some basic things. I love the colors red and black. I am obsessed with Sleep Token and Baldur’s Gate 3 right now. I really want to live on a farm with my close friends and our families with highland cows, wolfhounds, cats, and crows.

What kind of books do you enjoy to read?
I love gothic romances. That’s one of my favourites, but I am also a huge fan of high fantasy and urban fantasy.

What place would you like to visit sometime (you can only choose one)?
Scotland! I would love to meet my father’s cousins and family as well as just see the amazing sights!

Can you name a funfact about yourself?
I can come up with a joke off the top of my head but can never remember a joke to tell it later. I mix it all up.

What inspired you to started writing?
My therapy when I was younger was just purging my feelings onto paper. It was a release for me as well as helping me navigate the darker times in my life.
The start of my publishing path was a push from my husband and close friend who thought it was worth letting others read my work. I was incredibly nervous, but I gave in and here I am!

How do you come up with the ideas for your books?
Honestly, they just pop into my head at random times. Usually when I have nothing to write them down with. Haha

Which book did you enjoy writing the most?
Sirens and Leviathans. I had so much fun writing Amphitrite and West’s story since West is one of my absolute favorite characters.

Which book you found the most difficult writing?
Prophecy of Gods and Crows. I rewrote that book so many times I thought it would never be finished!

How do reviews of your books affect you?
I cannot read my reviews. I get so emotional about it, but does it stop me? No. I really need to have someone do it for me.
It is difficult because for most authors, you’re putting a piece of your soul on display and people are giving honest feedback on it. It’s best for us authors to stay out of the reviews. I remind myself that it is for potential readers and for people to share the experience of reading my book.

Is there anything you would say or recommend to all readers who maybe want to write a book for their own? Get the first draft down. Do not worry about grammar or it making sense. It’s important to just get the ideas on paper, and once you do, you will start fitting the pieces together.
The first step is always the hardest.

Let’s finish with a little game. If you went to a deserted island, what 5 items would you take and why?
5 books would be nice.
I guess it depends on survival, (I love to daydream about apocalyptic scenarios, haha) but that’s probably not what you meant.
If I am getting a little vacay from the fam:

  1. A library (because I will need more than one book, let’s be honest here.
As far as I am concerned, this counts as one item)
  2. Wine to relax
  3. A nice glamping tent to rest in
  4. A fire pit to sit by while I sip my wine and read
  5. A cooler full of food I do not have to cook

Thank you for joining me for this interview and special thanks to Giselle from Xpresso Booktours for making this interview possible. Hope you enjoyed reading this interview and don’t forget to enter the giveaway below.

She loves death.
He is Death.

Thanatos took a fifty-year vacation from his duties as Death, psychopomp of the Underworld.
Returning to Halcyon, he meets Lira, a professor of Thanatology with the ability to see souls . . and
him.
Intrigued, he finds himself obsessed with learning about the woman who studies, and sees, death.
As he finds himself growing closer to the woman who has him fascinated for the first time in centuries, a
devastating problem arises in both the mortal world and the Underworld.
People are no longer dying.
Thanatos and Lira now have a choice to make: each other or death itself.

Author Biography

C.D. Britt began her writing journey when her husband told her she needed to use her excessive imagination to write stories as opposed to creating a daily narrative for him. Ever since she penned her first words, life has been a lot more peaceful for him. She currently resides in Texas where she has yet to adapt to the heat. Her husband thrives in it, so unfortunately, they will not be relocating to colder climates anytime soon. Their two young children would honestly complain either way.

When she is not in her writing cave (hiding from the sun), she enjoys ignoring the world as much as her children will allow with a good book, music, and vast amounts of coffee (until it’s time for wine).

C.D. Britt is the author of Shadows & Vines, Sirens & Leviathans, and the upcoming book, Storms & Embers. All three books are part of the Reign of Goddesses series.
